Unity in Diversity, the Universal Principle of Harmony

About the Author

Radhamadhav Das studied Environmental Science at the ETH, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich, and taught at different colleges in Switzerland. He also taught at the Ecole d'Humanite, an international school that emphasizes the personal initiative and responsibility of students and teaches them social skills and harmony with nature alongside academic subjects. Radhamadhav Das studied Vedic science and philosophy in various schools and obtained PhD in Philosophy from Florida Vedic College.

Radhamadhav Das comes from a multicultural and multinational background and was always in contact with people of different schools of thoughts from the East and the West. He studied and practiced the teachings of various philosophies and religions, realizing a common essence behind them, namely the Absolute and knowledge of the Absolute. This one common essence is manifest differently in different schools of thought according to different circumstances, just like the same river appears different in different environments. This principle is most precisely formulated by Shri Chaitanya’s all-encompassing philosophy of Achintya Bhedabheda, simultaneous oneness and difference. As the Absolute is all-encompassing, the philosophy of the Absolute must also be all-encompassing. Shri Chaitanya, the founder of the Gaudiya-Vedanta school, taught the path of Bhakti-Yoga, loving devotion to God.

Radhamadhav Das received first and second initiation into this school from his spiritual master, H. D. G. Srila Bhakti Ballabh Tirtha Goswami Maharaj, who comes in direct disciplic succession of Shri Chaitanya and is the President-Acharya of the Shree Chaitanya Gaudiya Math and President of the World Vaishnava Association.

H. H. Bhaktisvarup Damodar Maharaj, the Director of the Bhaktivedanta Institute, requested Radhamadhav Das to disclose the Gaudiya-Vedanta philosophy to the academic circles, and he thus compiled the manuscript of Unity in Diversity. Srila Bhakti Ballabh Tirtha Maharaj instructed him to complete this service. The manuscript of Unity in Diversity was certified PhD by Florida Vedic College in 2011.

After he was encouraged to publish it by various scholars and devotees, Radhamadhav Das published Diversity in Unison in 2012 as ebook.
